BT’s Plan to Purchase MCI Has False Ring to It

So British Telecom wants to acquire MCI Communications (“Storied MCI Set to Ring In Another Era,” Nov. 2). It’s curious that a company earning a profit of 13.6% of sales is anxious to drive down that handsome margin by acquiring a non-competitor that’s earning a scant 3.6% on sales.
