In the Southern California men’s water polo regionals:
Golden West 11, Grossmont 5--Andre Araujo and Jeremy Pope each scored three goals as Golden West (30-2) took third place in the tournament. With the victory, Golden West is third-seeded at the state tournament.
In the Southern California women’s water polo regionals:
Golden West 8, Long Beach 5--Nadine Akers had four goals as Golden West (16-12-2) defeated Long Beach to advance to the state championships. Goalie Shannon Bobo had five saves for the Rustlers.
Golden West failed to score in the first two quarters and trailed, 1-0, at halftime. The Rustlers scored five goals in the third quarter to take a 5-3 lead.
