L.A. Baptist Clinches Alpha League Title

L.A. Baptist amassed 550 yards and clinched the Alpha League title Saturday with a 52-7 victory over host Marshall.
Peter Dirksen completed 19 of 25 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns, including a 27-yard score to Tim Feirfeil in the third quarter. Feirfeil had seven receptions for 103 yards, and Ron Atkins caught six passes for 98 yards.
Chris Ross led L.A. Baptist (6-3, 3-0 in league) with 104 yards in 11 carries and scored on runs of three, 72 and two yards, all in the first half. Atkins scored on a 44-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Dirksen 41 seconds before halftime.
Joel Stanton rushed seven times for 77 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for the Knights.
Marshall fell to 0-8-1, 0-4.
