NORTH HOLLYWOOD — Harvard-Westlake High held on to defeat Chaminade, 19-17, Saturday in a Mission League football game at Harvard-Westlake.
The Wolverines (6-3, 3-1 in league) nearly blew a 19-7 halftime lead, but stopped Chaminade at midfield with 43 seconds to play.
After Steven Hoo, who rushed for 162 yards, opened the scoring on a one-yard touchdown run on Chaminade’s first possession, Harvard-Westlake scored 19 unanswered points.
The Wolverines pulled within 7-6 when John Terzian threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to Steve Durbin. John Barry’s extra-point attempt was wide.
Barry atoned for his mistake by hitting field goals of 33 and 45 yards, which sandwiched a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown by Vaughn Glover.
Chaminade (3-5-1, 1-3) scored on a 78-yard return of a blocked field goal by Wilson Del Pizzo.
