A 12-year-old skateboarder who suffered major head injuries after being hit by a car in Camarillo on Nov. 1, has died in a local hospital, authorities said.
Brandon Gentry of Camarillo was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. Friday in the intensive care unit at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, said county Deputy Coroner Mitch Breeze.
Authorities said the boy was struck by the car in the intersection of Las Posas Road and Camino La Madera just after dark. The driver was not cited by the Sheriff’s Department.
The boy was treated at the scene by off-duty medical personnel and taken by ambulance to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo. Later that night he was transferred to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
Breeze said the boy was not wearing a helmet. The cause of death was internal bleeding due to blunt injury to the head, Breeze said.
