Hotel discounts for mature travelers are not as widespread in some foreign countries as they are in the United States. However, the four-star Normandy Hotel in Paris is offering an attractive three-night package for travelers over 50 at a 30% discount off regular rates. With the discount, guests pay about $90 per night. The Normandy is located near the Paris Opera and the Louvre museum. The package is for two guests and includes a double room, daily buffet breakfast, bus tour of Paris, tickets to a film on the history of Paris, a pass valid in most museums and service charges and tax. The Mature Traveler--Due to a reporting error, the rate given for a three-night package at a Paris hotel was incorrect in the Aug. 25 column. The correct discounted rate at the Normandy Hotel is $279 per room per night, not $90.
The Emma Nevada house located in Nevada City near Auburn, Calif. (150 miles east of San Francisco), is a Gold Rush era bed-and-breakfast inn that is offering a 15% discount for guests over 55 Sundays through Thursdays. Visitors to Disney World and Epcot Center can enjoy Resort World Vacation Villas that offer spacious living quarters for seniors and grandchildren in units equipped with kitchens, washers and dryers, cable TV, stereo and video entertainment centers, and daily maid service. Resort World also has three heated swimming pools, a children’s pool, night-lighted tennis courts, racquet-ball courts, free bicycles, fitness center, whirlpools spas and saunas, plus free video and game room. La Costa Resort, which is 30 minutes north of San Diego, is offering a discount package that seniors will appreciate. The package, which is valid Sunday through Thursday until Dec. 31, is priced at $119 per person per day on a double-occupancy basis. Added up separately, the program would usually cost more than $600 per person. The discount package includes:
* Accommodations in a courtyard room.
* 18 holes of golf daily, including cart and use of the driving range.
* Unlimited use of La Costa’s tennis courts and admission to tennis clinics.
