Norma Thornton; Actress, Dancer on ‘Ed Sullivan Show’

Norma Thornton, 66, an actress and dancer who appeared regularly on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Brought up in Iowa, Thornton moved to New York in 1947 to become an entertainer. She signed on as one of the original June Taylor Dancers, the precision chorus line that became a fixture on Sullivan’s long-running variety show. She also garnered stage credits and appeared in movies when she moved west with her husband of 46 years, actor Tige Andrews. Thornton, mother of six and grandmother of eight, was an avid environmentalist and supporter of Help Group in Sherman Oaks and Children of the Night in Van Nuys. Any memorial donations may be made to those organizations. On June 29 in Encino of an aneurysm.
