OKLAHOMA : Man Arrested in Motel Explosion
- Share via
An explosion and fire gutted a motel room in Edmond, Okla., and its occupant was arrested after police found four pipe bombs there. There is no indication that the suspect, Kelly Sean Spencer, 30, was connected to any militia or right-wing terrorist groups, said J. Dewey Webb of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Oklahoma City. The bombs--16 pounds of explosives--were taped together and had not been detonated. Bee Bowker, the motel’s resident manager, said Spencer was covered with soot when he ran out of the room following the explosion. He was taken to jail after being treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
