YORBA LINDA — Police arrested a 17-year-old male early Saturday morning on suspicion of armed robbery and carjacking involving a 43-year-old woman in a local shopping center.
About 8:30 p.m. Friday, a teenager armed with a knife demanded the victim hand over the keys to her 1996 Lexus 300 in the parking lot of the Village Center in Yorba Linda, according to Lt. Dave Carlock of the Brea Police Department. The victim complied, and the carjacker fled east on Yorba Linda Boulevard.
About 12:45 a.m. Saturday, police arrested the suspect at a residence. Police would not elaborate on how they found him.
No injuries were reported from the carjacking. The suspect, whose name was not released because of his age, was being held at Orange County Juvenile Hall.
