* Peter Frank; Retired Mathematician

Peter Frank of Ventura, a retired mathematician and onetime instructor at UC Santa Barbara, has died at the age of 71.

Frank was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Boston, Mass. He served in the Air Force during WWII, was a Harvard graduate and finished his PhD at Columbia University.

Frank lived in Ventura County for 25 years, and had been on the staff at UCSB in the speech and hearing department. He was a member of the Temple Beth Torah in Ventura.

Frank is survived by his wife, Ilse Frank of Ventura; two sons, Bruce Cassirer of Oxnard and Frank Cassirer of Montecito; one daughter, Susanna Kaplan of Sebastapol; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura. Interment will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Visitation will be just prior to the service Monday.
