Man Dies After Car Crashes Into Tree

A 31-year-old former Thousand Oaks man died after his car slammed into a large oak tree on Westlake Boulevard near Potrero Road, authorities said.
William Peter D’Amico, who recently moved to Venice from Thousand Oaks, is believed to have died of head injuries resulting from the Friday night crash, said a spokesman with the Ventura County medical examiner’s office.
A passing motorist discovered D’Amico unconscious in his car, police said. D’Amico was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators suspect that D’Amico was speeding when he lost control of his car and struck the tree about 8:15 p.m.
