Police Make Arrest Near Rape Scene

A La Habra man was arrested Wednesday after an 18-year-old woman told police she had been raped in a parked car behind a business in the 6900 block of La Palma Avenue, police said.
The woman reported she was walking near Lincoln and Knott avenues about 12:20 p.m. when the man offered her a ride, Sgt. Lloyd Schwengel said. They drove to a commercial parking lot near the intersection of Knott and La Palma, where he raped her, police said.
Police arrested James Edward Short, 21, in the area of the attack, Schwengel said. He was held at the city jail on $50,000 bail.
