VAN NUYS — A 54-year-old Van Nuys man Wednesday night falsely reported that his wife and four children were dead in order to get Los Angeles police to come to his house so he could talk to them about his daughter’s boyfriend, officers said.
Francisco Montano was arrested on suspicion of false reporting, a misdemeanor, LAPD Officer Paicia Mendoza said.
In his 7:49 p.m. call to 911, Montano repeatedly stated that someone had just killed his wife and children inside their apartment in the 15000 block of Vanowen Street, Mendoza said. Eight LAPD cars responded to discover that Montano was in the midst of a family quarrel and wanted to warn police about a daughter’s boyfriend, whom he considered dangerous.
“It’s just a waste of manpower when people abuse the system like this,” Mendoza said.
