Leah Rabin is expected Sunday at a ceremony to dedicate a local intersection after her husband, slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at the Campo de Cahuenga memorial museum, according to Gail Koretz, spokeswoman for City Councilman Joel Wachs, who proposed renaming the intersection as a tribute to the late leader.
“It’s a real honor to have her here in Los Angeles for this historic event,” said Koretz, who noted that Wachs’ office had invited Leah Rabin to attend the dedication after it learned that she would be in town for another engagement Sunday night.
Wachs, Mayor Richard Riordan, City Council President John Ferraro and Yoram Ben Ze’ev--Israel’s consul general for Los Angeles--will also be present.
The Los Angeles City Council voted Jan. 10 to name the well-traveled intersection after the Nobel Peace Prize winner who was assassinated on Nov. 4.
