Help Sought in Identifying Dead Infant Found on Beach

A dead infant was discovered Thursday washed up on a Malibu beach, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
It was unclear how or where the child had died, said Deputy Mark Bailey. The infant, estimated to be about a year old, was found by residents along a stretch of beach lined with homes.
“It appears the infant had been in the ocean quite a long time,” Bailey said. “Because of the state of decomposition, the sex and race of the baby could not be determined.”
Sheriff’s homicide investigators are hoping for the public’s help in identifying the child.
“The baby had been in this world at least a year,” Bailey said. “Someone must know something about it.”
