Suspect in Man’s Slaying Released

An Oxnard man suspected of murder was released from jail Wednesday after prosecutors declined to file charges.
Russell Schmitz, 33, was arrested early Saturday in connection with the shooting death of 30-year-old Anthony Moore at a house in the 300 block of Howell Road.
“He’s still a suspect,” Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Donald C. Glynn said. “We don’t have enough evidence to hold him right now.”
Glynn said the investigation into the killing is continuing and Schmitz could be arrested again.
