3 Named to City Staff Positions

Following a flurry of departures by city staff members, the City Council on Monday appointed three people to vacated positions.
Donna Teeter of Southgate was hired to replace former City Clerk Donna Velin, who has taken a similar position in Orange. Teeter has worked for the cities of Cudahy, Downey and Lynwood.
Gerard Goedhart, who has served as assistant city manager since 1985, will assume the role of city treasurer until a permanent successor is found. Former City Manager and City Treasurer Robert C. Dunek was hired away by Lake Forest in December.
Retired Long Beach finance official James A. Algie has taken over Dunek’s city manager duties for now.
Joann Lombardo, a city development consultant from Newport Beach, will serve as interim community development director. She succeeds Elizabeth Binsack, who resigned in January to take a position with the city of Tustin.
Teeter said the council expects to find a permanent city manager and community development director within four months.
