Sunny Hills Rallies, Takes Over First Place

Mike Morgan scored three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to bring Sunny Hills back for a 3-2 victory over Sonora in Freeway League boys’ soccer Friday at Sonora High.
Sunny Hills (9-4-4, 3-0) takes sole possession of first place in the league.
In other Freeway League games:
Buena Park 2, La Habra 0--Noe Sanchez and Ruben Gonzales scored second-half goals and Jason Avila recorded his seventh shutout for Buena Park (11-3, 2-1).
Fullerton 2, Troy 0--Scott Blon scored off a corner kick in the opening minute and Alejandro Sanchez added a second-half goal for Fullerton (5-9-1, 2-0-1).
In the Century League:
Foothill 4, Villa Park 1--Chris Fanti scored twice for visiting Foothill (7-6-4, 1-0-2).
Orange 2, Santa Ana Valley 0--Aldo Zuniga recorded his seventh shutout of the season for fourth-ranked Orange (10-3-3, 2-0-1). Victor Diaz and Alex Garcia scored for the Panthers.
In the Empire League:
Century 1, El Dorado 0--Hugo Alvarado scored with 10 minutes left in the first half for Century (9-2-1, 1-0-1).
Katella 1, Loara 0--Jacob Irving broke a scoreless tie early in the second half, scoring off a pass from his brother Darrin Irving, to lift visiting Katella (3-8-3, 1-0-1).
In the Golden West League:
Westminster 2, Tustin 1--Leo Gimenez, with an assist by Paul Puga, scored the winning goal for Westminster with 30 seconds left in the game. Mike Casey also scored for Westminster (10-5-2, 2-1).
In the Garden Grove League:
Los Amigos 3, Garden Grove 2--Damian Hernandez’s score late in the first half turned out to be the deciding goal for Los Amigos.
In the Golden West League:
Santa Ana 5, Ocean View 0--Dan Gonzalez, Mario Gonzalez, Jesse Lopez, Horacio Velazquez and Eddie Lopez scored for top-ranked Santa Ana (12-2, 3-0).
Servite 1, Saddleback 0--Servite handed fifth-ranked Saddleback its second league loss as the Friars scored the only goal midway through the second half.
In the Olympic League:
Whittier Christian 1, Orange Lutheran 0--Kyle Hedwall’s second-half goal was all keeper David Swank (12 saves) needed to record the shutout for Whittier Christian (11-3-3, 2-1).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Estancia 2, Costa Mesa 0--Miguel Zelaya scored both goals for Estancia (7-3, 3-0).
Laguna Hills 2, University 1--Nate Harrison and Bryan Doi scored first-half goals for Laguna Hills (7-7-3, 1-2). Jeff Majit also scored in the first half for University.
In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 4, Marina 0--Aaron Pugmire scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season and Marc Rodieck his 19th for third-ranked Esperanza (15-2-2, 3-0).
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 4, Mission Viejo 0--Marc Greco had four saves in posting the shutout for Capistrano Valley (4-6-4, 2-0-1).
Dana Hills 0, Trabuco Hills 0--Trabuco Hills’ goalkeeper Todd Abdalla had 11 saves and Parker Jarvis of Dana Hills had nine.
Mater Dei 4, San Clemente 1--Greg Bechtold scored two goals and Ara Akoubian and Nick Harlanbackis each had one for second-ranked Mater Dei (13-4-1, 2-1).
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 4, Edison 1--Vilaysack Pravongviengkhan’s goal (his eighth this season) early in the second half was the eventual game-winner for Huntington Beach (8-7-1, 2-1).
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Calvary Chapel 1, Los Angeles Cathedral 0--Chad Meserve scored the game’s only goal to lift Calvary Chapel (7-6-3).
