COLOMBIA : All but 11 Crash Victims Are Found
- Share via
Rescue workers said they had recovered all but 11 bodies from the wreckage of a U.S. airliner that slammed into a mountain in southwest Colombia, killing 160 of the 164 people on board. Officials said the remaining 11 victims were possibly buried under the Boeing 757’s landing gear at the remote crash site nearly 12,000 feet up in the Andes. Meanwhile, the U.S. ambassador to Colombia said 62 Americans were on board the American Airlines flight, not 48 as previously reported by the U.S. State Department. Myles Frechette told a news conference that it could be weeks or months before Wednesday’s disaster has been thoroughly investigated and that it was too early to draw conclusions.
