Why would the Los Angeles City Council want to publicly embarrass and humiliate the innocent children, wives, parents, etc. of men who are “caught” soliciting a prostitute (Dec. 13)? (I assume this would also apply to women caught in the act.) Prostitution is a mutually consensual encounter. Is this “crime” so serious that it warrants hurting people who weren’t even involved? I resent the City Council spending one dime of our ever-dwindling resources pursuing this inane proposal.
Sure, men should “share” in the responsibility of prostitution. Personally, public humiliation feels like a giant evolutionary step backward to me. Also, as a citizen, I would be much more interested in knowing who the child molesters are or the con artists who swindle the elderly. Get with it, City Council!
