Irvine Hotel Facing Foreclosure: Orange Country businessman George Yao was working to derail a planned foreclosure against the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Irvine. Yao, who controls 98% of the investment group that owns the hotel, spent Friday negotiating with Bank Midwest, the Kansas City lender that holds a $19.3-million first loan on the 289-room property. Some observers speculated that a bankruptcy filing would be made to head off a planned foreclosure. Yao’s lawyer, Jess Robert Bressi, said a filing would depend on the outcome of negotiations. Bank officials were not available for comment.
