New York Times to Publish Northeast Edition: The New York Times Co. said it plans to begin publishing a Northeast edition of its flagship newspaper in early 1997 and expand the number of sections in its metropolitan New York edition later that year. New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. said the new Northeast edition will be transmitted via satellite to printing sites in Boston and Washington, D.C., and should be available more widely in those regions. In trading on the American Stock Exchange, New York Times Co. stock rose 87.5 cents to $29.75 a share.
