N.Y. Subway Attack
* Two major industries may have helped cause the injuries which a New York City subway token clerk suffered, when he was burned by criminals (Nov. 28). The movie industry inspired the criminals to burn the token clerk, when they added violent scenes to “Money Train,” which portray similar conduct. And the tobacco industry induced token clerks to illegally disable fire-suppression equipment so that they could smoke.
Sen. Bob Dole has been quick to ask Americans to derail “Money Train” at the box office. Why hasn’t he also asked Americans to vote to derail any Republicans who have voted to help the tobacco industry, such as Jesse Helms?
