Mission Hills : Holy Cross Lauded for Violence Prevention
- Share via
Holy Cross Medical Center has won the Partnership in Mission Award from the Holy Cross Health System Corp., based in Indiana.
The Mission Hills hospital received the award for its Violence Prevention Program, designed to decrease violence in the community--and to reduce trips to the emergency room.
The program combines education in civic and personal responsibility with gang intervention and other activities in an attempt to stem the tide of violence in the San Fernando Valley.
The program, funded through a Holy Cross Health System grant, is supported by City Councilman Richard Alarcon and the Los Angeles Times in Education project.
Holy Cross Medical Center is a nonprofit Catholic medical facility serving the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Simi valleys.
