USC Guard Harris Out for a Month

USC senior point guard Burt Harris will be out at least a month after injuring his left knee in practice Wednesday.

Harris, a senior from Fairfax High, will undergo arthroscopic surgery Friday for torn cartilage in his left knee and is expected to be out four to six weeks.

Harris had surgery on the same knee in June.

“It’s really unfortunate for Burt because he has gone through a series of injuries the last couple of years,” USC Coach Charlie Parker said. “A lot of people didn’t know that Burt began last season on crutches with a foot injury. He plays most of last season hurt and then has surgery on his knee in the off-season, comes back and now is back on crutches with another knee injury.”

Harris is fifth on USC’s all-time three-point basket list with 121 and seventh on the assist list with 308. Last season, Harris averaged 8.9 points and 2.8 assists and led the team with 43 three-pointers.
