Chatsworth 30, Canoga Park 12--Rickey Vestal rushed for 78 yards in 16 carries to help Chatsworth post a victory at Canoga Park.
The Chancellors (1-2) sealed the victory when, leading, 24-12, they stopped the Hunters (1-2) on a fourth-and-13 play from the Canoga Park 49 with 6 minutes 54 seconds left in the game.
Reserve quarterback Noah Verdi completed three passes for 20 yards and two touchdowns for Chatsworth. Starting quarterback Ryan Martinez completed six of 11 for 80 yards.
Kieron Barkataki led the Chancellor rushing attack with 39 yards in 14 carries. He scored twice, both from the one-yard line.
Canoga Park’s came when Michael Shoemaker caught a 39-yard pass, taking the ball to the one-yard line and setting up David Montoya’s touchdown run.
Montoya completed seven of 21 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.
