MOORPARK — Larry Ford rushed for 76 yards in 16 carries and a touchdown, and Cameron Neal added a 45-yard touchdown run early in the third period to fuel Kilpatrick’s 14-7 victory over Moorpark in a nonleague game Friday night.
Ford’s second-quarter touchdown was set up Derald Givens, who intercepted a Bryan Paul pass and returned it nine yards to the Moorpark 11. Ford scored on the next play, and Jonathan Weber’s pass to Jeffrey Boyd for the two-point conversion gave the Mustangs (1-2) an 8-7 lead they would not relinquish.
The Musketeers (2-1) took a 7-0 lead on Michael Aguilar’s three-yard run in the first period. Aguilar finished with 49 yards in 14 carries.
Paul completed 10 of 23 passes for 99 yards with one interception. Paul, also a starting defensive back, made up for the miscue with two interceptions of his own.
Paul intercepted a pass in the first period and returned it 30 yards for an apparent touchdown, but the play was nullified by a penalty.
Weber completed two of eight for nine yards.
Neal finished with 57 yards in five carries for the Mustangs, who limited Moorpark to 94 rushing yards and 193 yards overall.
