Moorpark College’s Al Nordquist, the only men’s basketball coach in school history, has resigned. Nordquist, one of the most successful junior college coaches ever in California with a 478-380 record, has accepted the position of dean of social sciences and physical education at Moorpark, pending approval Tuesday of the college board.
Nordquist was hired by Moorpark in 1967. His 27-year career started with the 1968-69 season. It was highlighted by two Western State Conference championships and two final eight appearances in the State tournament. Moorpark averaged 17 victories a season.
Nordquist will be replaced by longtime assistant Del Parker.
