Victor Valley 31, Pierce 28--Brahma Coach Bill Norton went for the victory instead of the tie and came up short on the final play of the nonconference game at Pierce.
Pierce could have tried a 33-yard field with three seconds left but opted instead to go for the touchdown. David Muir threw an incomplete pass on a fade pattern to Jermaine Brooks as time expired.
Victor Valley punter Hobie Jarrard intentionally stepped out of the end zone for a safety with 30 seconds left. He squibbed the ensuing kick and Chris Pearson fielded the ball at the Ram 32-yard line and returned it to the 29. When Victor Valley was called for a personal foul, the Brahmas had a first down at the Ram 14-yard line with 25 seconds left.
Muir completed 17 of 36 passes for 248 yards and a touchdown. Brooks had seven receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown.
