Cal State Northridge beat Division III Menlo College, 45-2, in a nonconference game on Saturday night at Northridge.
The Matadors, who won their first opener in seven years, dominated Menlo, out-gaining the Oaks, 490-74.
Northridge’s Chad Marsalek ran for 118 yards on nine carries. Quarterback Clayton Millis completed 11 of 24 passes for 111 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception.

Alf Anderson ran for a 42-yard touchdown with 1:27 remaining as Idaho State held off Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (1-1) for a 28-22 victory in a nonconference game at San Luis Obispo. . . . Trinity got three touchdown passes from Steven Wheelis in a 26-0 rout of Pomona-Pitzer (0-1) at San Antonio, Tex. . . . Azusa Pacific (1-0) defeated Redlands (0-1) for the first time since 1989, 23-17.
