Janet Jackson has joined brother Michael in The Times’ Southern California singles chart. “Runaway”--one of two new songs from her 16-track “Design of a Decade: 1986-96” greatest-hits album, due next month--debuted at No. 6 in the local chart and No. 8 in the national chart. It sold 41,000 copies in its first week in release, according to SoundScan, while Michael’s “You Are Not Alone,” which is No. 2 in both charts, sold 125,000 copies the same week. The nation’s No. 1 single, Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” sold 212,000 copies.
