CASH FOR COLLEGE: Compton Community College lost out on additional state funding to improve its aging campus last year.
But this year the college was near the top of the money list and has been awarded $14 million as part of the newly approved state budget . Compton’s award was second only to the $18 million granted to Allan Hancock Community College in Lompoc.
The money already has been earmarked for a 72,543-square-foot vocational education building, which will replace three smaller structures built in the 1950s.
