Voice Powered Technology Reports Turnaround

Voice Powered Technology International Inc., a Sherman Oaks maker of voice-activated electronic products, staged a turnaround in the second quarter that ended June 30. Earnings were $154,000 contrasted to a loss in the corresponding quarter last year of $141,000. Revenues in the latest quarter rose 129% to $6.04 million from $2.64 million a year earlier.
Combined earnings from the first two quarters were $348,000 contrasted to a loss of $36,000 in the first two quarters last year. Revenues for the six-month period more than doubled to $11.74 million from $5.76 million last year.
The company said the turnaround was owed to increased acceptance of voice-activated products by consumers.
