Greg York; Emmy-Winning Costume Designer

Greg York, 34, Emmy Award-winning costume designer for CBS television’s “The Young & the Restless.” With the soap opera for nine years, York was nominated for Emmys five consecutive times before winning the award in 1993. A native of Waupun, Wis., York earned a bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University and a master’s of fine arts degree in theatrical costume design at UCLA, where he later lectured. At CBS, York also served as wardrobe master for the programs “The $25,000 Pyramid,” “The $100,000 Pyramid” and “Capitol.” Before joining the network, York was a staff designer for Design Studio in Hollywood and costumed such Los Angeles-area stage productions as “Professor Bernardi” and “The Underpants,” for which he won a Drama-Logue award for outstanding costume design. York also lectured at the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising and Pepperdine University. On July 26 in Los Angeles of the complications of AIDS.
