Body of Woman Found at Cliff Base

DANA POINT — A 44-year-old woman apparently committed suicide Sunday by flinging herself off a cliff overlooking Dana Point Harbor.
According to Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jay Mendez, a passer-by spotted the woman about 3 p.m. on an outcropping near the bottom of the 200-foot cliff.
“She had a note in her pocket apologizing to whoever found her for having to see her in such a state,” Mendez said of the woman, believed to be a Mission Viejo resident.
Her name was withheld, pending notification of relatives.
