British Petroleum Co. Makes Major Finds: The company said it made two major oil and gas discoveries in Colombia. The company said the Florena and Pauto discoveries boosted estimated recoverable reserves for the three-field complex in Colombia to about 1 billion barrels of oil and 10 trillion cubic feet of gas. BP said combined reserves for Pauto and Florena are 750 million barrels of liquid petroleum and 5 trillion cubic feet of gas. But further appraisal is needed to determine the split of volumes between the two discoveries. The new finds mean that Colombia will be a major source of production and profits in the next century.
