Great Western Names Retail Banking Chief: A. William Schenck III has been named executive vice president of the retail banking division of Great Western Financial Corp. Before joining the Chatsworth-based firm, Schenck, 52, was an executive vice president and manager of the consumer banking division at PNC Bank Corp. He succeeds Curtis Crivellli, who took early retirement in March. Schenck’s appointment is expected to accelerate progress already made in making the liability side of the company’s balance sheet more bank-like, with higher checking and transaction account balances, a relatively low cost of funds and higher fee income compared to most savings institutions, the company said. Great Western Financial is a diversified financial services company whose principal subsidiary, Great Western Bank, is a mortgage-oriented consumer bank that operates branch networks in California and Florida.
