They’re Dogging the Dodgers Again
It’s real difficult to be a Dodger fan. When the front office can let a player like Brett Butler go and then has to scramble to trade for a “veteran” center fielder, when nothing is done all winter to strengthen a wobbly pitching situation and a woeful bullpen, and when they say Jose Offerman is “doing a good job at shortstop,” we have got big trouble.

Call me unforgiving. Fred Claire dumps a proven, respected player insultingly, without the slightest pretense of common courtesy. He then finds himself and the Dodgers in a hole of his own digging. Scrambling, he gets lucky and pulls off what may turn out to be a brilliant trade. Bravo.
Maybe Claire prays as I do: “Oh Lord, do not give me what I deserve, but what I need!”
