The three-year, $11.25-million deal the Angels offered Chili Davis over the winter--then rescinded this spring--may not be dead. Agent Tom Reich, who represents Davis, said Monday there is a “dialogue” with General Manager Bill Bavasi about the situation.
“I would not characterize it as negotiations, but it’s not a closed subject,” Reich said. “We’re hoping the deal gets reconstituted.”
If it isn’t, Davis will go forward with his arbitration case, for which the team ($4.3 million) and Davis ($5.1 million) have already submitted figures for a one-year contract.
