Driving Clinics Available for Seniors

Senior citizens can take driving classes designed especially for the elderly.
Available across South County in April, the two-day clinic is open to people who are at least 50 years old. The cost is $8, and advance registration is required.
The course focuses on helping seniors compensate for slowing reflexes and vision problems, along with updating participants on Department of Motor Vehicles regulations. Those who complete the eight-hour course receive a certificate that can be sent to auto insurers for good-driver discounts.
Those interested in signing up must contact the facility at which the class is being held. In April, classes will be available:
* Monday and Tuesday at the San Clemente Senior Citizen Center, 242 Avenida del Mar, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information: (714) 498-3322.
* Monday and Tuesday at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Oso Viejo Road, Mission Viejo, from 8 a.m. to noon. Information: (714) 470-3062.
