3-Point Shots Sink Matadors at Fresno State

FRESNO — Darnell McCulloch and Davon Satterwhite each scored 17 points and Fresno State set a team record for three-point baskets in an 89-56 nonconference victory over Cal State Northridge on Wednesday night.
It was the third straight victory for Fresno State (11-11). Northridge (5-16) has dropped three in a row and lost six of its last seven.
Fresno State was devastating from long distance, making 16 three-point shots. That broke the team’s single-game record of 13 set against Texas El Paso last season.
The Bulldogs also set a school record for three-point attempts with 34.
Ruben Oronoz led the Matadors with 13 points and Peter Micelli had 10.
Brandon Bakke, who made five of 10 three-point shots, tied the record with 7:34 left and then broke the mark two minutes later. Bakke finished with 15 points, all three-pointers.
Fresno State made 11 of its three-point field goals in the first half to take a 51-27 lead.
