SEACLIFF : Accident, Spill Close All But 1 Freeway Lane
- Share via
An accident involving two tractor-trailers and ending with a 50-gallon diesel spill early Wednesday closed all but one lane of the northbound Ventura Freeway, slowing traffic for hours.
The collision occurred about 6:30 a.m. just north of Padre Juan Canyon Road. The driver of a tractor-trailer, Marcelino Manuel Decierdo, 54, of Lompoc, veered onto the right shoulder, colliding with the rear of a tractor-trailer parked there.
The impact sent debris flying into other lanes of the freeway and ruptured the fuel tank of one of the trucks, spilling 50 gallons of diesel across the road.
Decierdo suffered cuts on his head, but refused medical treatment. No one else was injured.
Two of the northbound lanes were closed until 9:50 a.m., as Caltrans workers cleared the road.
