Investment in Mexico Stock Market Plunges: The Mexican Stock Exchange said investment fell 33% to $23 billion in January from December. The decline comes after foreign investment in stocks dropped 32% in December. The market’s capitalization value declined 32% in January to $88.12 billion from $129.85 billion a month ago. Variations in the amount of foreign money invested in Mexican shares is explained by the number of foreigners holding Mexican shares, by fluctuations in share prices or by a change in the value of the peso against the dollar. In January, the stock market index dropped 12% in peso terms and 22% in dollar terms. Foreign investment in American depositary receipts amounted to $14.68 billion at the end of January, a 31% drop from December.
