SEASON AT A GLANCE: Tryk, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard who averages 17.4 points a game, is one of five senior starters for the Cardinals (22-2, 9-1), whose only Frontier League defeat was to Santa Clara in double overtime last month.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Tryk scored 22 points in Santa Paula’s 52-49 upset victory over Santa Clara last week that ended the Saints’ 91-game winning streak in league play--the second-longest in Southern Section history. He opened the game with a 19-foot jumper and carried the scoring load throughout the game, despite suffering leg cramps in the second half. “We’ve been thinking about this since we lost that first game,” he said. Tryk scored 26 points in a victory over Moorpark three days later that clinched a share of Santa Paula’s first league championship since 1972.
