COMMUNITY COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Golden West Remains Undefeated in Conference Play

Golden West remained unbeaten in conference play by defeating Orange Coast, 82-65, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Friday night at Orange Coast.
The Rustlers (22-5, 7-0) led, 38-35, at the half, then used a 9-0 run to take a 55-42 lead with 12:22 left in the game.
The Pirates got no closer than six the rest of the way.
Reserve Farrah Magee scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Nicole Quinn also scored 20, a career high, for Golden West. Julie Murdent added 17 and Deana Itow had 12 for the Rustlers.
Flo Luppani and Kathleen Kelly each had 14 points for Orange Coast (16-10, 2-4), which lost to Golden West, 59-58, earlier this conference season.
Golden West leads second-place Saddleback by two games with five left. The teams play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Golden West.

In other conference games:
Saddleback 60, Rancho Santiago 45--Maggie Gorska scored 14 and Ruth Vallejo 12 for host Saddleback (14-7, 5-2). Wendy Morris had 16 for Rancho Santiago (8-12, 0-6).
Riverside 67, Cypress 57--Cypress’ Sara Works, the state’s leading scorer, injured her knee late in the first half in a collision with a Riverside player and didn’t return. Works, who is averaging 28 points a game, had 10 points.
Stephanie Werdel had 15 for Cypress (18-9, 4-3), which fell into a third-place tie with Riverside. Alicia Rubio had 22 for the Tigers (9-11, 4-3).
