OXNARD : Calls From ‘Police’ Prompt Warning
- Share via
If you get a phone call from the Oxnard police asking for money, it’s a fraud, Oxnard police said Tuesday.
Detective Len Newcomb said the department has recently received several reports from residents saying they have been called by people soliciting donations for the police.
Newcomb said the Oxnard Police Department does not engage in such phone solicitations. He said people should give only to recognized, legitimate organizations, and take the time to check out charities by asking for a name and call-back number before giving out any information or pledging any money over the phone.
