Rod Marinelli became USC’s defensive line coach Monday, after coaching Arizona State’s defensive line the last three seasons.
Marinelli, 45, coached Cal’s defensive line for nine seasons before joining Arizona State’s staff in 1992.
At USC, he succeeds Doug Smith, moved to the offensive line last week by Coach John Robinson. Marinelli joins the staff next week, with the Trojans preparing for their Cotton Bowl game against Texas Tech on Jan. 2.
Marinelli played football at Rosemead High and Cal Lutheran.
