WESTMINSTER : Vacant School to Be Leased to Church

The Westminster School District will lease the vacant Franklin Elementary School to the Christian Reformed Church of Orange County, a district spokeswoman has announced.
Church officials’ plans call for using the site, at 14422 Hammon Lane, for church services, Sunday school, meetings and other activities. Proceeds from the lease will be used to fund improvements districtwide, district spokeswoman Audrey Brown said.
The nine-acre campus was closed in June because of changing enrollment patterns. Under the terms of the lease, which are still being worked out, the church will pay the district about $100,000. Neighborhood children will continue to have full access to the play fields, Brown said.
