OUTLOOK
Young, athletic and quick is the best way to describe Laguna Hills this season. Last season, the Hawks finished fourth, but they could be primed for a shot at making the playoffs. Costa Mesa, University, Estancia and maybe Aliso Niguel also will challenge for playoff spots. Taylor calls this season a crossroads for the program, and if his team can compete against the top three, he would consider it a successful season. With leading rebounders Haneef and Treinen returning at the post positions, Laguna Hills should dominate the boards. Inoue returns to direct the offense, which lacks scoring punch, especially from the outside. Taylor is hoping Inoue and Haneef will pick up the offensive load with McBride adding some perimeter scoring ability. Taylor is optimistic the Hawks will improve over last season. It figures to take a leap of confidence to push Laguna Hills into the category of playoff contender, however.
