SIMI VALLEY : Police Station Plan Is Moving Forward

Simi Valley could open a new police station in three years under a plan approved by the City Council.
The city’s ongoing efforts to build new headquarters accelerated after the existing building on Cochran Street suffered damage in the Jan. 17 quake.
Simi Valley could be eligible for as much as $3.7 million in federal quake relief funds to help cover the estimated $11 million cost of the station. An additional $2.9 million could come from the Community Development agency, with the balance drawn from the city’s general fund and special districts.
In the coming months, a committee composed of Councilwoman Sandi Webb and Councilman-elect Lindsey Paul Miller will study two possible sites for the station. And the council agreed to begin looking for an architect to design the new facility.
